Questions operators ask
Everything about how PayTree works — pricing, payouts, switching, support. If your question isn't here, email us and a person will answer.
Signing up
The signup form asks for your name, email, business name, and number of machines. To complete onboarding we'll need standard business documents — your EIN, tax information, and a voided check for payouts. Nothing you haven't submitted to a bank or processor before.
A few days. A machine in limbo isn't earning — for you or for us — so we move fast. Once you've signed and your terminals are reprogrammed, you're live.
No, and we'd rather you didn't. If we're not your first choice yet, we're happy to be your second — move a few machines over, see how we handle them, and switch the rest when you're confident. We'd rather earn the whole fleet than demand it.
Only if you want to. Signup is online and self-serve — no sales call is required at any point. If you'd rather ask a person first, email support@paytree.com and someone will answer.
Getting paid
On the third business day of each month. Your surcharge revenue lands directly in the bank account you have on record — no separate withdrawal, no waiting on a request.
You do, per terminal, and you can change it whenever you like. It's your revenue lever and it stays in your hands.
No. There's no transaction floor and no minimum fleet size. A slow machine can sit with us indefinitely with no penalty — and we'll do what we can to help you grow its volume rather than just tolerate it.
Every rate is published — the drive rate, the sponsorship fee, and all five subscription tiers. Nothing is quoted privately. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
Your machines
No. Keep the ATMs you already run — they just need reprogramming to move onto our processing. About fifteen minutes per machine, on site.
Any standard retail ATM. If it's a machine you'd find on a retail floor, it works with us.
You generate your own — there's no waiting on us to issue one. If the processor's own interface isn't ideal for you, we've built tools that help you auto-create terminals faster.
Hardware is the operator's responsibility, but you're not on your own. Today we'll help you source parts and find technicians through third parties, and over time that's being built directly into our platform.
Onboard five machines and you get a free NFC upgrade kit. Every eight machines after that earns another free kit.
Cash and coverage
Cash is the operator's responsibility, unless you use our cash logistics options. Armored cash delivery is one of the services we're rolling out — until then, loading and balancing your machines is on you.
Nationwide, across the US. Dispensary locations follow each state's cannabis laws, but our processing footprint is national.
Today you'll use a full-featured processing portal for reports, terminal management, and reprogramming. We're also building our own operator dashboards on top of it — more insight, more AI, and eventually everything you need without opening the processor portal at all.
Support and switching
Start with our free ATM support tool — it's open to any operator, customer or not. If it can't solve the problem, email us and a person replies. Technical escalation is available around the clock through our processing partner.
Everything starts with an email. Depending on what you need, we bring the right person on our team into the thread, and if it needs to escalate further it can become a call. We keep it in writing on purpose, so every answer becomes something we can reference later.
No. Compliance is an ongoing process, so we're naturally in regular contact rather than disappearing after onboarding. Over time we're using that to build steady, low-friction touchpoints — reviews, reporting, and more — so you always have a line to us.
No. Reprogramming takes about fifteen minutes per machine and nothing goes dark during the move. Moving a large fleet? We can send someone to handle the reprogramming for you.
About PayTree
An ISO for independent ATM operators — registered with Visa, Mastercard and the major EFT networks, a member of ATMIA and the National ATM Council. Our team has years of experience in the ATM business; PayTree itself is young, which is part of why we publish every rate instead of asking you to take our word for it.
No — and we don't want to. We're selling our own ATM portfolio to be purely an ISO, and we have no interest in placing machines. If a location ever comes our way, we'd rather pass it to an operator and focus on the processing. PayTree is your processor, not your landlord — your growth is the only growth we're paid on.
Acquisition isn't on our roadmap. If that ever changed, our customers would be the first to know — and either way, your machines and your locations are your own.
Processing isn't where we make our money; it's the foundation. This is an industry under real pressure, and while most companies are focused on taking as much as they can before it shrinks, we'd rather use the moment to build something operators can move into next. Processing is just the first plank. There's more on that on our About page.
