Every ATM needs the right signage. We'll help you
get it right

Compliance made simple

Networks and regulators require specific decals and notices on every terminal. Getting them wrong risks fines and lawsuits — so we lay out what's needed, why it matters, and cover your first run.

What every ATM needs to show

Three things belong on every terminal. Here's what they are and why they matter.

Network decals

Every card and EFT network your terminal accepts should be displayed, so cardholders can see their card will work. Networks generally require their logos be shown at equal size and in high contrast. Because your machines run under our registrations, you'll know exactly which decals apply to you.

An operational and suspicious-activity notice

Every terminal should show who operates and services it, and a phone number cardholders can call to report a problem or suspicious activity. This is both a network requirement and simple good practice — it's how issues at your machine reach you.

A fee notice

Cardholders must be told about the surcharge before they're committed to paying it. Today that notice is shown on-screen during the transaction, and some states still require a physical fee notice on the machine as well. Keeping a physical fee notice is also one of your best protections against disputes.

This page is general compliance guidance from one operator to another, not legal advice. Requirements vary by state and by network, and they change. You're responsible for confirming what applies to your terminals — we're glad to help point you in the right direction.

The operators who take signage seriously are the ones who don't get caught out.

Signage isn't red tape. It's protection.

It keeps the lawsuits away

Missing or removed fee notices are a well-known trigger for class-action claims — some operators field these regularly. A clear, well-placed fee notice, documented at install, is the simplest defense there is.

It keeps you in good standing

Signage is a network requirement, and compliance reflects on your whole operation. Getting it right the first time means one less thing flagged in a review — and it's the kind of thing we'd rather help you nail up front than sort out later.

Your first run is on us.

New PayTree operators get their required signage covered — so there's no reason to put off getting compliant.

1) Send the photo

2) We credit you

3) You're covered

Send us a clear, date-stamped photo of each terminal showing your network decals, operational notice, and fee notice in place.

We credit the cost of your required signage — up to your first five terminals — to your next settlement.

That photo does double duty: it's your proof of compliance and your protection if a dispute ever comes up.

Covers required signage for up to five terminals, to a maximum of $100 total, reimbursed at actual cost against photo proof, credited to your next merchant settlement. Available on your first signage order as a new PayTree operator. Premium or custom branding beyond required signage isn't included.

Do this once and you're covered

The operators who never get burned all do the same simple thing.

1) Photograph each terminal at install.

A clear, date-stamped photo showing all required signage in place. This is the same photo that unlocks your first-run credit.

2) Check it on every service run.

When you're at the machine for cash or maintenance, confirm the signage is still there and still legible. Notices get peeled off — a quick look keeps you covered.

3) Keep the photos on file.

If a dispute or review ever comes up, dated proof that your signage was properly placed is the fastest way to put it to rest.

And we keep it all on track for you. Our system stores your proof, tracks what's current, and flags anything that needs attention — so your only job is the photo.

Get set up right from day one.

Sign up and we'll walk you through your signage — including which decals apply to you and how to claim your first run.
